Howard County Health, Innovation, Venture, and Entrepreneurship (HoCo HIVE)
A Hospital-Connected MedTech Clinical Validation Program
HoCo HIVE is a hospital-connected innovation and clinical validation program led by the Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) in partnership with Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center (HCMC). The program is designed to help startups and growth-stage companies validate and refine practical healthcare technologies in real clinical environments.
What to Expect
HoCo HIVE is an 8–10 week program focused on clinical engagement, validation, and proof-of-value development. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with two cohorts annually.
Participants may engage in clinician and operational feedback sessions, workflow and feasibility discussions, and validation and pilot-readiness refinement. Select companies may also have opportunities to explore pilot or proof-of-concept activities with HCMC based on alignment and hospital capacity.
The program concludes with a Demo Day and Market Pulse-style pitch opportunity, where companies can showcase their solutions to healthcare leaders, ecosystem partners, and innovation stakeholders.
Who Should Apply?
HoCo HIVE is designed for startups and growth-stage companies developing pilot-ready medtech solutions, including devices, software, diagnostics, digital health, AI-enabled healthcare applications, and other technology-driven solutions that improve how healthcare is delivered, diagnosed, monitored, and managed.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
