The State of Maryland, City of Baltimore and counties impacted by the Key Bridge Collapse are evaluating the impact on the local business community. Business Recovery Centers

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced on April 1, 2024 that it is now operating two Business Recovery Centers (BRC) to assist business owners in completing disaster loan applications, accept documents for existing applications, and provide status updates on loan applications. Located at the Dundalk Renaissance Center and the CareFirst Engagement Center, these BRCs will operate as follows:

The SBA announced on April 8, 2024 that it will begin operating a Business Recovery Center (BRC) in Anne Arundel County on April 9th at 10 a.m. AAEDC staff will be available daily alongside staff from the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation and the Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management to assist businesses and individuals affected by the Key Bridge collapse. Located at the Arundel Christian Church, this BRC will operate as follows:

Economic Injury Disaster Loans

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced on March 30, 2024 that Mid-Atlantic small businesses that have been affected by the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse on March 26, 2024 may apply for low-interest, long-term Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs). Late Payment Penalties Waived

The Comptroller of Maryland announced on March 29, 2024 that the Office of the Comptroller will waive certain late payment penalties and interest for Maryland businesses through May 31, 2024, to mitigate the economic impact of the Key Bridge collapse. Port of Baltimore Emergency Business Assistance Program

Under the Governor Moore’s Executive Order, the Department of Commerce is establishing The Port of Baltimore Emergency Business Assistance Program to provide grants to eligible businesses, as defined in the PORT Act, and who rely on the use of or access to the Port and whose business operations or shipments are hindered or halted entirely due to the redacted operations of the Port. Learn More.

The Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Assistance (MTBSA) is a cross-sector collaboration of philanthropic, business, and community organizations and leaders committed to ensuring a full recovery following the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Learn More.

U.S. Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program–Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

SBA disaster loans may be available to homeowners, renters, and businesses of all sizes in areas covered by a disaster declaration. Learn more and apply for assistance here.

Virtual Disaster Center

The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) is opening its Virtual Disaster Center on April 11 and April 16, from 12–2 p.m. and 5–7 p.m. on both days, to help anyone with insurance-related issues or questions regarding losses from the Francis Scott Key Bridge disaster. MIA will provide a ten-minute Virtual Presentation and then offer attendees the opportunity to join Private Breakout Sessions with agencies including the Maryland Department of Human Services, Maryland Department of Disabilities, U.S. Department of Labor, and Maryland Health Connection.
